Happy Reformation!

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
our helper He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
his craft and pow'r are great; and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
were not the right man on our side, the man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is he,
Lord Sabaoth his name, from age to age the same,
and he must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear for God hath willed his truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure, for low his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

That Word above all earthly pow'rs, no thanks to them, abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours through him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
the body they may kill: God's truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever.

Blessings

I was thinking the other day about blessings and how it is so easy to take them for granted. I automatically assume that I will go to work today. I presume to know that tomorrow will hold what I've planned. Too often I don't give credit to our awesome God for these special every day blessings that He showers down on us. The only reason I am able to go to the store like I planned is because God has blessed me in that area. This applies to other areas as well. We can take our family for granted as well. It can be pretty easy to just go everyday without thanking God for the family He put us in.

Those are just some simple everyday examples of blessings. Often those are hard. The big long term blessings are a little easier to spot. Blessings such as being able to go on a missionary trip, being blessing with children, or completing a college degree are easier to see. This doesn't mean we can overlook them though. We are a month and a half away from Thanksgiving. Do you stop and count your blessings more than just on that holiday? Do you ever think about how much God has blessed you with? I know I don't always. Lets remember to stop in the midst of all our business and thank God for all that He has given to us as His children.
